Hello My Name's Ashley McRoy.
My Personal Life:
Having grown up in a small town in North Carolina, (Winterville), I will always be a Southern Belle.
I have also lived in Massachusetts for about three years, and in 2002 me and my parents moved to Hunterdon Co. NJ. Being a shy girl, it took me a while to adjust. Being that I moved in 12th grade wasn't too easy either.
While in High school I took advantage of the polytech program they offered, and got my cosmetology license. Soon after, I began to start my modeling like I was always told I should do. After shooting with a few photographers, I started venturing into the city, checking out the agencies. I was offered many contracts from small agencies and did some work here and there. I was told to wait to sign with a top agency, so i did. Right as I was being offered a few contracts by some of the top names, I discovered I had cancer.
I had noticed a lump in my tummy, and got it checked out. After surgery and removing the lump, I was given a 20% chance of life, and told it was stage four colon cancer. They were able to get most of it out, but not all. I have been getting chemo, 12 treatments in total, one every other week. I will be having the 10th one Tuesday March 4th, then I'll only have three left. After 6 treatments, I was told I needed another PET scan. After all that had been going on I thought it was time for something positive to happen... and it did, the PET scan came out normal! The doctor has reduced the doses now, and they are not as hard to deal with now. April 1st will be my last treatment then I'll be back to my normal life style.
My Career:
I am in my second year of school at Raritan Valley Community College, majoring in graphic design. I will be done by December 2008. I have done very well and have a GPA of 3.8, and would like to go on to get a 4 year degree. So far, I have done some work studies, and have learned a lot, and am very eager to learn more. I have always been a very talented, imaginative young lady. Looking forward to how my career will unfold.
